Decline in Carbon Emissions from Spanish Energy Sector

Carbon emissions from Spain's energy sector fell by almost four per cent in the first half of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007, according to WWF. According to the campaign group, this drop was due to several factors including a higher carbon price and increased renewable energy production.
Emissions in the power sector were down by ten per cent as a result. If sustained in the second half of this year, the decline will represent the biggest fall in emissions since 1990.
